Jennie Sewell
Jennie Sewell is an artist who is grateful for the opportunity to create in any form, and thinks it is good for the soul. Jennie graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison, and spent the first 15 years of her career working in graphic design and then photography. She has more recently returned to her past love of paint, and has found that working with a more tactile medium brings her joy and a much needed break from the digital world.
Her current work is an exploration of abstract floral forms, working intuitively as the paintings evolve. Layers are added over time to build visual depth and physical texture. Her favorite medium is acrylic paint on canvas, but also enjoys working with graphite and chalk.
Her dream of living surrounded by nature, took her to Mound Minnesota where she currently lives with her husband and two kids. When they are not working on a project to renovate their home, they are probably out playing on the lake. She is constantly inspired by the joy and the curiosity of her kids (and her crazy black lab), and tries to take that sense of play into her work.
